Include a Charity Week 2011 - An Overview
12th – 18th September 2011 saw the launch of the very first Include a Charity Week. This was the first time members of the Include a Charity campaign were asked to come together across the charity sector to raise awareness of the importance of charitable giving and to encourage more people to consider including gifts to their favourite charities in their wills.
What happened during Include a Charity Week 2011?
Member charities were provided with detailed information and advice about how they could help the public talk about this important issue. Include a Charity develop its first television commercial which was aired throughout Include a Charity week.
The Include a Charity TV commercial reached an audience of over half a million people aged between 55 -64 years old across Australia.
What else did charities do during the week?
Charities wrote articles for newspapers, held radio interviews, sent out bookmarks to their supports, hung posters in their reception areas and printed stories in their newsletters about gifts wills to help raise awareness of the Include a Charity campaign across the country.
We encouraged charities to post stories online about just how important gifts in wills are to their work. We urged charities to use social media such as Facebook and Twitter as a part of their communication strategies and we organised digital shouts throughout the week to help raise more awareness of charitable gifts in wills amongst the public.
